Laurie Schlegel, a conservative Republican, was recently elected to serve the people of District 82 in Jefferson Parish, where she was born and raised. Laurie has been married to her high school sweetheart, Judge Scott Schlegel, for over 20 years. They have a teenage son, Luke.

 

Laurie, a licensed professional counselor with prior business experience in hospitality and pharmaceuticals, has a heart for people and decided to run in a special election so that she could be a voice for the conservative vision. Laurie believes that our government should be a limited one and that it must become more fiscally responsible. Laurie supports our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and is unapologetically pro-life.

 

Laurie currently serves on the Education, Labor and Civil Law & Procedure committees. And after only a few weeks as a State Representative , Laurie successfully carried the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” on the House floor by an overwhelming margin (SB156-Mizell).
