About Dodie

State Representative - District 9

Dodie Horton was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and graduated from Woodlawn High School. She is married to Gary Horton, a retired Shreveport Firefighter, and they have made their home in Haughton for over forty years. Together, they have three beautiful daughters and four precious grandchildren, two girls and two boys.

Prior to being elected as State Representative for District 9 in 2015, Dodie served as Legislative Assistant to Representative Henry Burns for eight years. She was re-elected in 2019, without opposition, to her second term as State Representative and is honored to serve the people of District 9.

Dodie serves on the Transportation, Highway, & Public Works, House and Governmental Affairs, and Labor and Industrial Committees. She is also Chairwoman of the Legislative Bureau. In addition, she is a member of the House Select Leadership Committee. Dodie is also a proud member of the Republican Delegation, North Louisiana Delegation, Rural Caucus, and the Women’s Caucus.

She is a true conservative who embraces our Constitution and the right to life. Her highest priority is to stand for the values her constituents hold dear and to represent their interests in Baton Rouge. It is her honor to serve District 9 as “The People’s Representative”.
